Dr Sigrid van Roode is a jewellery historian and archaeologist whose fascination with personal adornment began in Cairo over 25 years ago. She is believes that jewellery is a record of human life, revealing traditions and personal stories of those who wore it centuries ago.
With a PhD in jewellery and ritual, she works with museums and private collections to preserve this heritage and keep its history of traditions alive. A Visiting Research Fellow at the NINO Research Centre of Leiden University, she writes books, curates exhibitions and gives talks, sharing her knowledge and infectious curiosity about the meanings behind adornment.
