Yvon van Wordragen: Delicate Balance of Autonomy and Beauty
Yvon van Wordragen is a Dutch artist whose creative journey spans over 25 years, rooted deeply in painting and sculpting in bronze. She works from her atelier in Velp, where she finds inspiration in nature, quiet space and the tactile process of shaping metal and pigment.
Her visual language centers on the female form and expressive animals: in her bronzes, women appear both strong yet vulnerable, joyful or introspective, while her painted canvases are layered with emotion and movement.
In her practice, the material matters almost as much as the subject: bronze allows her figures to live in three dimensions, to reach out into space; acrylic paint gives her the freedom to let gesture and colour dance across large canvases. Her art is both invitation and presence—they ask us to reflect, and to recognize something of ourselves in the forms she creates.
