Jorrit ten Berg: Bring Back The Brooch | NETHERLANDS
A brooch can change the whole feeling of an outfit. It gives the eye somewhere to pause and reveals a little about the person wearing it. For jewellery designer, maker and gemmologist Jorrit ten Berg, it is also a way to explore the relationship between a gemstone, its setting and the shape of the finished piece.
Jorrit makes his jewellery by hand in gold, silver and natural gemstones, creating individual pieces and small editions. His knowledge and passion for gemstones informs his approach, with attention given to the character of each stone and how it works within a design. Traditional techniques and time at the workbench are central to his practice.
His brooches deserve a closer look. For bespoke commissions, the wearer becomes part of the starting point, helping shape a piece that feels personal. There is something particularly appealing about this exchange: getting to know the person who makes your jewellery, and having a hand in the story behind it.
We look forward to welcoming Jorrit ten Berg to The Winter Salon, where you can discover his work and speak with him about the stones and ideas behind each piece.
