Jackie Sleper: A world of her own | NETHERLANDS

There is something wonderfully unruly about Jackie Sleper’s imagination. Porcelain figures, glass flowers and sparkling jewels find their way into her sculptures, brought together in combinations that make you stop and look. You might notice the colour first, then a curious detail. Later you'll find yourself wondering how it all fits together.

Working across sculpture, painting, photography and collage, Jackie draws on her own life, the people she meets and the stories she hears on her travels. Memories and poems become starting points for works that can be playful, tender and sometimes unsettling. Women, nature and the delicate balance between strength and vulnerability return throughout her practice.

She also takes great care in how these imagined worlds are made, seeking out craftspeople who can help realise a particular element, from specially made additions to intricate glasswork. The result is rich in detail, with plenty to discover beyond a first impression.

We look forward to welcoming Jackie Sleper to The Winter Salon and sharing her extraordinary world with you!
