Arnout Visser: Fairy Tale Glass Objects | NETHERLANDS
What happens if ...?
A good question can become a beautiful object. For Dutch designer Arnout Visser, it often begins with glass: blown and coaxed into forms that reveal something unexpected about the material. He describes himself as a “formfinder”—an apt name for someone whose work grows through curiosity, experiment and close collaboration with glassblowers.
His Liquid Lights capture the movement of molten glass in the shape of a lamp, each formed without a mould. For his Explosion Spheres, glass is blown through a fine metal mesh, creating a tension between restraint and expansion. These are carefully explored processes with room for the unpredictable: the material has a say in the finished piece.
At The Winter Salon, we welcome Arnout’s spirit of invention. His objects offer the pleasure of looking, followed by the irresistible question: how was that made?
